This is because your bodyâs stress response can get triggered often throughout the day and, if your body doesnât return to its regular state of relaxation afterward, you may find yourself in a state of chronic stress. Chronic stress is the type of stress that can really wreak havoc on your health and contribute to a host of stress-related health problems including heart disease, high blood pressure, and many more, including the common cold. Learning relaxation techniques can help you restore your body to its natural state when youâre feeling stressed, and can potentially help you remain more resilient to stress that you face in the future â" you can become less reactive to the stressors that you face and can recover more quickly from it if you do react. Relaxation can occur when youâre just sitting and watching t.v. in a lounge chair (which is what some people think of when they think of the word ârelaxationâ), but having a more structured plan for relaxation can be more helpful in the face of stress. It helps to have a plan because you can learn to use strategies that are most effective, not just familiar. You can also actively choose strategies that build resilience rather than merely distracting you from whats creating stress for you on a given day. Learning to relax your body and your mind can be more effective than simply relying on distraction or resilience. Here are some of the best relaxation strategies you can use to combat stress. Breathing Exercises These can be your first line of defense against stress. Breathing exercises are wonderful for relaxation because they can be used anytime and at any place, they work quickly and are easy to master. Meditation Many people try meditation and find that itâs a wonderful relaxation tool. Many others consider trying it, or try it a few times, and decide itâs not for them. If youâre in the second group, you may want to consider giving meditation another look â" itâs excellent for relaxation as well as developing a more positive attitude and, if practiced long-term, greater resilience toward stress. You can read more about the benefits of meditation and different meditation techniques you can try. Music Playing music is a great way to relieve stress and promote relaxation for your family and friends as well as yourself. (Okay, maybe your co-workers wonât enjoy hearing your tunes as much as you do, so perhaps this one is best saved for home and in the car.) Because music brings real benefits in terms of wellness (music therapy is a growing field), it can be conveniently used effectively for relaxation as well. Exercise It may seem that exercise is the opposite of relaxation, but a good workout can actually make you feel more relaxed afterward for a few reasons. First, working out can be a good way to release stress and blow off steam. Second, the endorphins released during a good workout can aid relaxation quite nicely. Additionally, exercise can get you into a state of flow where itâs difficult to stay stressed â" your body has to move toward relaxation as your stress response begins to reverse. Have Fun! Yes, these relaxation methods donât all have to be clinical and practiced. Letting loose and having fun with your family and friends is an excellent way to relieve stress and experience relaxation. The problem is that people donât always prioritize plain old fun as an important part of life â" they donât fit time for it in their busy schedules (at least not nearly as much as they should) because they donât realize the value of fun for balance as well as physical and emotional health. Well, now is the time to start working more fun into your life. See these tips on having fun for starters. If you focus on stress management regularly, in a relatively short time you can learn to more easily relax when you need to, and build resilience toward stress.

The 14 personally scales include; schizoid, avoiding, depressive ,dependent, histrionic, narcissistic,c antisocial, sadistic, compulsive, negativism, masochistic, psychotically, borderline and paranoid. The clinical scales include; anxiety, comparators, bipolar, hysteria, alcohol dependence, drug dependence, PATS, thought disorder, delusion disorder, and major depression. The mortifying indices include disclosure scale (x) , the desirability scale (y), and the debasement scale (z). Items: There are 175 true or false questions ,which ar designed to be completed in half an hour. The test closely coordinates with the ADSM . Patientsââ¬â¢ raw scores are converted to Base Rate (BRB) scores to allow comparison between the personality indices. The Base Rate scores are essentially where each score fits on a scale of 1-115, with 60 being he median score. Conversion to a Base Rate score is relatively complex, and there are certain corrections that are administered based on each patientââ¬â¢s response style The Disclosure scale is the only scale in the MIMIC-III in which the raw scores are interpreted and in which a particularly low score is clinically relevant. A raw score above 178 or below 34 is considered to not be an accurate representation of the patientââ¬â¢s personality style as they either over-or under-disclosed and may indicate questionable results. A base rate score of 75 or greater on the Desirability or Debasement scales indicate that the examiner should proceed with cautioner the Personality and Clinical Syndrome scales, base rate scores of 75-84 are taken to indicate the presence of a personality trait, or (for the Clinical Syndromes scales) the presence of a clinical syndrome. Validation History and psychometric properties: Theoretical-substantive validity[edit] The first stage was a deductive approach and involved developing a large pool of items; the number of items was reduced based on a rational approach according to he degree to which they fit the theory as well as elimination of items based on simplicity, grammar, content, and scale relevance. Internal-structural validity[edit] Once the initial item pool was reduced, the second validation stage assessed how well items interrelated, and the psychometric properties of the test were determined. Internal consistency is the extent to which the items on a scale generally measure the same thing. Cockroachââ¬â¢s alpha statistics range from . 66 (Compulsive) to . 90 (Major Depression). Test-retest reliability is a measure of the stability of the measure, or the change over time. The higher the correlation, the more stable the measure is. Based on 87 participants, the test-retest reliability of the MIMIC-III (5-14 days later) ranged from . 82 (Debasement) to . 96 (Comparators) with a median coefficient of . 91 . These however, no long-term data are available. External-criterion validity[edit] The final validation stage includes convergent and discriminative validity of the test, which is assessed by correlating the test with similar/dissimilar instruments. Positive predictive power is the likelihood of being right given a test positive, which ranged from . 30 (Masochistic) to . 1 (Dependent). Sensitivity, or the proportion of individuals that have a condition that are correctly identified ranged from . 44 (Negativism) to . 92 (Paranoid). Strength and weaknesses; the test is brief in comparison to other personality inventories and it has a strong theoretical basis. Some psychologists prefer to give it because the administration and scoring are simple, and it has a multi-axial format. The organization of the scales was confirmed by factor analysis and correlations done with third-party tests further confirm the validity of the scales. Internal consistency and alpha coefficients for the est., as well as test-retest reliability, are all good. 3. BECKââ¬â¢S ANXIETY INVENTORY The Beck Anxiety Inventory (ABA), created by DRP. Aaron T. Beck and other colleagues. It is a 21 -question multiple-choice self-report inventory that is used for measuring the severity of an individualââ¬â¢s anxiety. The Beck Anxiety Inventory is a well accepted self-report measure of anxiety in adults and adolescents for use in both clinical and research settings Scope: Though anxiety can be thought of as having several components, including cognitive, somatic, affective, and behavioral components, Beck et al. Included only two components in the Basis original proposal: cognitive and somatic. [2] The cognitive subspace provides a measure of fearful thoughts and impaired cognitive functioning, and the somatic subspace measures the symptoms of physiological arousal. Because the somatic subspace is emphasized on the ABA, with 15 out of 21 items measuring physiological symptoms, perhaps the cognitive, affective, and behavioral components of anxiety are being deemphasized. Therefore, the ABA functions more adequately in anxiety disorders with a high somatic component, such as panic disorder. On the there hand, the ABA wonââ¬â¢t function as adequately for disorders such as social phobia or obsessive-compulsive disorder, which have a stronger cognitive or behavioral component. Tragic story Essay Example For Students
Tragic story Essay Willy Russell writes a tragic story about two twins who were separated at birth but were reunited and became best friends as youngsters at the age of seven. However their different backgrounds took them to opposite stages in life. Edward who had an upper-class lifestyle became a councillor and Mickey on the other hand got fired from a factory where he was working and was sent to prison. They both fell in love with the same girl called Linda. However Linda was Mickeys wife and was going to be a mother to his child when Edward fell in love with her. When Mickey had come out of prison he had been taken tablets to help his depression. Linda needed love and comfort, but also in order to get Mickey a job and both of them a house of their own she kept on meeting Edward in order to get this. While the pair of them kept on secretly meeting, they had an affair which led to a fatal conclusion. We will write a custom essay on Tragic story specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now In the end both the twins die after knowing that they were brothers. Mickey shoots Edward and a policeman shoots Mickey. This refers to what Mrs Lyons had told Mrs Johnston they will both die at the moment they are told that they are brothers.Ã The important character that pushed Edward and Mickey to death was their mother Mrs Johnston. This is because it was Mrs Johnston who told them that they were brothers. This left Mickey with mixed emotions of anger and jealousy. He thought that he could have been in Edwardss position, and that he could have wealthy and would have been able to have what Edward had. Edward was shot accidentally. This as because Mickey did not mean to shoot Edward, however although he would of regretted it for the rest of his life; unfortunately a policeman had shot him. In the plat there are two main characters. These are Mickey and Edward are twins who were separated at birth.Ã The quote gis a sweet is said by Mickey which shows that he is a rude boy and does not have any manners. As a youngster Mickey is rude and impolite to others. This is shown by the quote above which is said to by Mickey to Edward. Mickey speaks to Edward in this manner because he is from a working-class and has been taught that he would not get the things that he would want or ask for. For this reason he asks in a rude manner because he thinks that there is no point in asking polite for things that he would like when he can not get them, so he should ask in an aggressive and rude voice so people may be scared of him and would give him things that he would like. Another reason why Mickey asks in a rude manner is because he has got seven brothers and sisters. This means that because he lives a working-class lifestyle, he has to share his toys and sweets and sometimes would not get anything because he is the youngest. The quote gis a sweet is similar to the quote gis a ciggie. This is similar to gis a sweet because it still shows that Mickey is rude and impolite but it also shows that Mickey is not afraid or shy to ask from others.Ã By contrast, Mickey is the total opposite to Edward. This is because Mickey speaks a language full of slang where as Edward speaks a formal language. Do you know F word, this is said by Mickey in the play. Edward does not know anything about swears or slang language this is because of his upbringing which was by intelligent and wealthy parents. .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 , .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 .postImageUrl , .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 , .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43:hover , .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43:visited , .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43:active { border:0!important; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43:active , .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43 .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u0efeaebb4773395c10a6cf07b37c8d43:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Miller Creates Dramatic Tension in this final act EssayOn pages 70-71 we know that Mickey has grown up and at the age of 18 he is more mature and responsible than he was as a youngster. This is because he has got a job and has got married and is also expecting a baby. However we find out that Mickey had been fired form his job and has got a pregnant wife. This means that he will not be able to afford things for his baby. This is similar to Mrs Johnstons position when she was pregnant with Edward and Mickey, she could only afford to keep one of the twins. In this scene Mickey is shown much more intelligent than Edward because he understands the importance about having a job and providing for the family. This shows that Mickey is more intelligent than Edward because he knows about the real world and knows about having responsibilities, where as Edward thinks that money is nothing a quote to show this is looklook, money money plenty of it, This quote shows that Edward does not know the importance of money. Although Edward has studied at university, he isnt as intelligent as Mickey is. This is because Edward flaunts his money that he has got. As a youngster Edward was a posh and polite young boy. However he was gullible and still is. A quote to show this is I can go and get you some this is what Edward says after Mickey asks him for a cigarette. On page 71 we once again see that Edward is gullible. I thought we were blood brothers, this quote shows that Edward is gullible because he believed Mickey that they were blood brothers when they were youngsters. Also this quote shows that Edward is childish because he still believed that him and Mickey were blood brothers at the age of 18. Edward is childish and gullible because of his family background and the way he has been brought up. Edward had been bought up to trust people in the story and also because he does not have responsibilities towards his family and worries about being able to afford for his baby he is still childish because he has got a lot of money which gives him a lot of freedom and the power to be able to anything.
